Teneric Physical Network -
22-03-2005, 10:20 AM
I was thinking about planning and administrating a Physical Network meeting with all Teneric members; it would be an excellent opportunity for us all to meet up at a specific location - maybe 4 times a year in major cities where we operate.
It would enable everyone the opportunity to really sell their business services and products - we could even have workshops and case studies which would aid new business set-ups. If you feel that this is a good idea then email me in the first instance and let's get our thinking caps on and look at the costing elements and the return of investment opportunities. Locations in mind - The Excel exhibition centre Docklands London Sheffield, Manchester and Glasgow. Hi Angela,
Well a good thing about a Network is to not restrict your business opportunities...To make it worthwhile I am posting similar posts in other forums and now looking at the possibility of obtaining a sponsor like Business Link or the 3 Mobile Network. I think once we can develop a good structure to the events then this could become a little knowledge and money spinner, if you feel that you want to contribute a little more send me an email to martin.johnson@dogandboneassoc.biz and then we can maybe have a in-depth chat about it. Thanks for responding. Have a nice day Martin Johnson Senior Business Development Project Manager Dog and Bone Associates "Opening new pathways to business success" |

Martin,
I think it is a fantastic idea . This is the forum I often visit/post because there are some good guys around with whom I wouldn't mind doing business. Therefore any opportunity to meet face-to-face with them is a welcome addition.Peter, since the network is going to bear the name of your good firm am I right in thinking you will be footing the bill for the bar tab whenever we meet? ![]() Regards, Joel www.babylonbusinessfinance.com |

Hi Peter,
I have thought of some of the principle areas that the Physical and Online Network can focus on: Dog and Bone Associates would like to host a Masterclass on Accessible Business Practices, this subject will focus on delivering products and services which are accessible to everyone you serve. There are over 8 million people in the United Kingdom which are registered disabled and according to treasury figures this community spent over £40 billion on every day products and services - this also including specialised products and services. Now that the Disability Discriminations Act 1995 is now law and affects virtually every type of business, I am sure that those not educated in this area would benefit from the knowledge that we have in this area - and the return of investment would be considerable if businesses made their products and services accessible to all. At present we are developing a course which caters with Customer and Employee Etiquette towards people who are disabled by society. We would be very happy identifying a strategic alliance with you in order to further develop this product and sell it via this site. We would make several thousands of pounds of learning very cost effective for Teneric members. The Course focuses on person to person etiquette as well as electronic etiquette which is all inline with the DDA 1995. It has been reported by the Disability Rights Commission that if a person disabled by society feels that they are being mistreated to an able bodied person (customer or employee) then the law will be on their side; this would lead to a sue culture Ryan Air was a victim of a sueing when a wheelchair user was found to be discriminated against. If New and small businesses have easy access to this type of learning - they can start on the right foot which will be further recognised through out this community. I would appreciate your feedback on this post. Happy Easter, Martin Johnson Senior Business Development Project Manager Dog and Bone Associates |

I wonder if we should start on something easy
It always amazes me on the stats for disability -- 8 million !! That's like 15% of the population ![]() Why don't we start on something like website marketing, general marketing, newsletter marketing ... or marketing related OR, a way of promoting each other ? |

Yes it is a considerable amount of the population, but it is a harsh fact - a report commissioned by the Royal National Institute for the Blind found that over 2 million websites in the UK were deemed unaccessible to visually impaired people - now if a visually impaired person wanted to start up a business and wanted to gain access to information that organisation x made accessible to people with sight but could not access that material themselves wouldn't that be the possibility of loosing a customer which would have wanted to buy the service or product that they had a passion for buying.
Wouldn't having a fully accessible website enable that person to buy the service or product from organisation x - at the end of the day if all organisations demonstrated best practices to all they serve they would find that they would expand their market and this would be noted by the visually impaired person who would tell friends, family and other businesses of organisations x's accessibility. Sometimes we have to think about customer care in order to obtain and retain those customers which we serve. I think it is imperative that the DDA1995 should be examined by all businesses and incorporate the best practices in evolving their marketing plans. Are you trying to say that you would not serve a person who is disabled by society? |

Sorry Peter,
I can't complain about your site, and no complaints were reflected towards this site. I am a bit over passionate towards this area as there are so many opportunities within this sector that can be of vast benefit. |
