Launched the site about a week ago (http://www.ThisIsTheAd.com).

I'm interested in any feedback you can give on the idea itself. Good idea, bad idea? What could be done better etc.

The idea is to drive visitors simply by curiosity, much like the milliondollarhomepage worked. People aren't really going to visit to see the ads themselves, but they'll visit to see if the site is growing, how much the site is making and what kinds of advertisers are joining in (hopefully more and more well known companies as time goes on).

Advertising for the site will be done through blogs, forums (as we speak ), sites like digg.com, press campaign and word of mouth.

So, any feedback will be appreciated and if anyone is interested in advertising, that's even better

Good idea definately NOT.
Bad Idea Yes definately.
Why is a guy who is doing a Masters wasting his time on this. Yet another adaptation of milliondollarhomepage for wanabe entrepreneurs that want to make a fast buck. Come on get real this wont work be serious. Marketing by using blogs, forums and word of mouth driving visitors by curiosity!
Sorry to be so blunt but this is most probably the tenth version of milliondollar home page I've come across on Forums like this. It's been done , it was a one off, try something original

Yes another variation on an existing theme, the site design looks very good though have to say. But sorry disagree with your point above why would people come back to see if its growing? If I wasnt advertising on there I wouldnt give a damn about it and why would anyone else?
