Thing with doing this, is that unless you do something very original and clever that makes people talk and pass the link on to their friends, then it is likely that your video will end up lost amongst the thousands of other videos.

Also, is it really worth it? A lot of the funny videos sent to me have only received, say a 1000 hits. So is the cost and time of making these videos worth it for reaching that number of people?

Could also argue that the target audience of youtube is more towards the younger end of the market, so keep that in mind, no point trying to viral market an old spice aftershave equivalent or cod liver oil.

One other thing is that there is a general negative attitude on youtube towards adverts, people don't seem to like new companies trying to promote stuff, if you read the comments at the bottom people seem to get pretty angry about it. However, established adverts such as phones4u etc etc, seem to go down well on their.

Might be worth it, but i wouldn't spend too much time on it.

Well advertising with You Tube is not profitable way, but if you choose to advertise just go to all ads, ezine, and blogs that could help a lot to publish your site.

Marketing may not be always successful through youtube. You can't put your CEO's speech on youtube to market your company unless your CEO is having that reputation in world. But what you can always do is to provide post sale support and demos if you are a product company through youtube. For example, how to oil you water pump etc.

We are a firm of Personal Injury Solicitors, I have been talking to the media head at our local college about making a video to put on You Tube and they are willing to do it for free as part of their course work.

Problem is - what will work in our industry?

May be you can develop an awareness clip and put it on Youtube with your company or website link showing at the bottom.

I am an advid youtube user, usually check it out once or twice daily, and to speak for all youtubers I say the best idea to promote a company is to make an INFORMATIVE or INSTRUCTIONAL video. Other than that you can make one with shock value...but never ever commericals!!

For example, if you are a law firm looking for college students small claims cases, create a video titled "What to do in an Auto Accident", I like that title because it doesn't have any "law-like" words, (example "Rights", "Jurisdiction", etc). I'd say the title is an important aspect of video clicks. I might want to know what I should do if in an accident, or what I should do after one, or "Top Ten Accident Spots in Florida". YES, this is going to require research and $$$, youtube is NOT FREE, it takes TIME, and it could be UNPROFITABLE.

Also, keep the topics smart and chill, in other words, it might not be best to TRY and be Funny in a Youtube environment of youngsters...Funny isn't bad, I just believe unless you are really talented or have a lot of $$$$, it will more than likely come out as CHEESY. Why? Age Demographics. It's like your grandpa telling you this joke; "Hear about the guy that lost the left side of his body? Don't worry, he's All RIght now!".....yeeeaaahhh...
