Actinic page indexing

Hi

We use Actinic for our online store www.trainershack.co.uk. A problem we have is that our product pages are not indexed on Google (they are on MSN etc). Anyone have any advice, is it something to do with Actinic?

Thanx

LX

I don't know the answer as I'm not a techie but I have looked at what Google has cached on your products pages and noticed that you have the same page title and desription on each page which is a bit of a waste.

Pages about Nike should have page titles and descriptions just devoted to Nike and likewise for Adidas and Puma etc

yes, same page title and description suggests duplicate content which google doesnt like

try and get those to reflect what is on the actual page

Thanks for your reply/help. All the pages have their own specific titles ie. "Nike Trainers" for Nikes, however because of the programme I don't think I can change the meta descriptions for each page as the programme uses a template. If I change the description in the template then it uses the same one for all pages of that type...unless there is a way round that but I don't know what that is.

I'm lately using X-Cart, which is almost entirely based in CSS & PHP. I know that one of the built-in functions is that any non-endpoint page has two fields in the admin's editing page for META tags description & keyword. I experimented with this, & was indeed not able to find a page at all by googling for phrases that were definitely on a page where I'd left the META fields blank.

So, I know that it's possible... but you might be prevented from using the tools you've got at hand to do it.

There's a method I learned, which is both a potential workaround & raises your search status. Create a pure HTML website parallel to your ecommerce presence. Use the HTML to add detailed information (maybe even "how to" suggestions, if the product supports this) & send customers right to the item listing... but in the meantime load those META tags full of keywords.
