What is the best technique for indexing a new site in google?

I have been using social bookmarking with good success, but I was wondering what everyone else is doing.

Have you tried wrapping it around a brick and throwing it through one of the Googleplex windows...? I've heard that the second floor, 4th window from the left get's you indexed highest

first of all.. i had to submit my site to major search engines like google.. yes i do social bookmarking too, after i got bookmark my site i ping it after wards.....

Creating a sitemap would be another effective way.

It's really important to make all your pages indexed by search engines.
A site map is a page that has text links to all of the pages of your site.
This is useful to have because it helps users to find what they are looking for on the site by providing an outline summary of all of your pages as well helps search engine robots to land on the interior pages.

After you build your site map page, be sure to make a link to it from your home page and the other important pages of your website.

Links links and more links. Google will spider your site as long as it is worth spidering. If your content is good then people will link to it, if no-one links, then over time your pages will be de-indexed.
