checking reciprocal links

I have been checking reciprocal links every few months manually and it's very time consuming so I have been looking for ways to speed things up.

I have come across one or two link checking programmes but the ones that I have looked at either don't work very well or unstable but I came across Reciprocal Link Checker from Rebrand Software today which seems better than the ones that I have come across so far and you don't seem to need an MBA to work it.

I had a quick run through with one of my links pages and it told me which sites were still linking to me and where to find the link but most importantly told me which sites that had approached me asking me to link to them were no longer doing so. Shame on the two people here that asked me to reciprocate links to their sites that that's another story.

I have Reciprocal Link Checker on a 15 day trial and if I wish to keep it I will need to register it at a cost of $60. It seems to do what it sets out to do by telling me which of my link partners is still linking to me and which isn't but I really could do with a little more information as I would also like to know the Google PR of the site linking to me.

There are a number of sites that have linked to me for quite a few months but their links pages don't seem to be indexed or cached by Google. I assume that Google is either unhappy with the site or else there are "do not follow" instructions coded somewhere but whatever reason I don't want to link to sites like that.

Does anyone know if there is any software that will check to see if a site is still ranking that will also return the Google PR of the site or do I have to do this manually still.

It would seem that Rebranded Software's main business is selling licences for their software packages to other resellers who then brand them with their own identity for resale. The link checking software that I downloaded from rebrandedsoftware.com works well but is limited to 15 days whereupon I will have to buy it for $60.

Looking around at alternative products I came across "Link Exchange Verification" from softwaregang.com and downloaded that to find that it was a rebranded version of the program that I had already downloaded. This version was time limited to 15 days also but each individual session was also limited to 30 minutes which isn't really long enough. The interesting thing is that this version of the programme only costs $19 to buy so the moral of the story is that if you are interested in this sort of thing you should download the demo version from one website but buy it from another.
