Where am I going wrong?

My site is newish and I have read quite a lot of articles about them and it says to try and get your site seen over the web quite a bit! I have posted on various forums with a text link and I am getting quite a few hits from the links but my PR is either n/a or 0!

The site is www.nick-harper.co.uk! Would somebody be able to take a look and see where I am going wrong?

Okay - reality check here I think! (sorry)

Google doesn't like NEW websites, it's very difficult to get even a 1/2 decent ranking for at least 12 months. PLUS your target keywords must be one of the most competative on the net
The key is to add your website to high PR directories, my honest advice is DO NOT pay for directory inclusion, no matter what the PR of the directory - but that is upto you.
Forum links are fine - but not the best way of getting good solid links, you need 1000+ inbound links to get a good Google PR and probably even more for a web designer (this is a rough guess). I've currently got about 1300 inbound links and I still don't figure anywhere in the top 50 rankings for UK hosting companies

I have read about things like link directories but most of these include having a link on your site!

The only thing about that is that it would not look very professional on my site to have it plastered with links although it would bring in a lot of links I am sure!

Some directories require a banner / link back to their website - but the majority don't, you just need to know where to look...

Your domain name was registered less than 3 weeks ago and far from having a PR with Google the site hasn't even been indexed yet.

Google operate a sandbox and all new sites will reside there (even if they are indexed) for at least six months and you are unlikely to gain any half decent search engine ranking with Google unless you are in a unique business.

Try and use this time to gain some quality links so that by the time you emerge from the sandbox you will have slowly built up some good inbound links at a rate of perhaps one or two per week.

I understand that it is going to take time to get up there and have been scattering links around the net and trying to find the best ways to do this.
