Google PR update

It seems that Google is conducting one of it's periodic PR updates. The toolbar PR figure is notoriously unreliable but my main index page has dropped from 5 to 4 and several new pages have suddenly acquired a PR
I have noticed that the number of backlinks that Google states that I have has also increased. I'm not sure how relevant any of this is as my site was promoted to 1st place in the page rankings yesterday at the expense of a large clearing bank subsidiary with a huge website and an SEO budget in the thousands despite them having a PR of 6 and far more backlinks than me.

well done Ian on your search engine rankings
PR is just one of many factors that rate a site luckily we are still a PR6 !
