Which site ?

The site in fourth position written in German is Atradius which is a substantial company with an equally substantial website but Google in it's infinite wisdom has stuck the German page in fourth place for the search term "factoring" whilst the company's UK pages written in English rank nowhere.

If you were referring to my site which has now sunk to 7th place on page two using Peter's link but is still in 2nd place on page 1 of the "normal" Google UK, it was launched 5 years ago and has about 100 pages.

Thanks Ian.

Just trying to evaluate the effects that this update has had on different sites. From my investigations G seems to be heavily favouring 'authority' sites. Now please do not take this as gospel it is simply speculation until we know more. It looks like older and larger sites are doing better in serps. I was wondering how you considered this with a view to results. Not just your main 3-5 keywords but some of the less popular ones that you would expect better rankings for.

it may also be able something I've seen called "trustrank"

I would say a site that has been online for 5 years, has many links from .gov or .edu sites, has several hundred/ thousand pages is worth more than a 5 page site with just links from forums......

True peter, but then I would expect/presume that an old site would have more natural links to it etc than a new five page site nailing the forums.

I was told by an SEO company a few months ago that my site would be considered to be an "authority site" and that I would never disappear from the top two or three which shows how much these boys know.

Whilst I have crept back to my previous position for the main search word there are other ancilliary pages that were optimized for other words and phrases that have slid right down from pole position to obscurity.

Sounds v similar to what we have seen with one of our sites. As you say the other ancilliary pages are miles off where they should be. Yet older and larger sites are in the top ten with very little relevance other than they contain the words randomly on the page.

'Never Disappear' - Brave words.
