I learned that we should submit to do-follow directories, blogs.. but how can we know which ones are do-follow?

Ah, I want to know more, in case we don't know and submit to no-follow sites, is it completely not helpful? If no, what we can get from no-follow sites?

go to your ad. then right click your mouse and choose the "view source"

if its a no follow tag it will have something like that in the header

<meta name="robots" content="NOARCHIVE,NOFOLLOW">

if the site allos follow it will say:

<meta name="robots" content="index,fOLLOW">

I think vsl4ever was referring to if you get a link on a blog or directory, will that be nofollow or not, not if the site is wanting to be indexed by Google or not.

You can install the Firefox Add-on called "SEO for Firefox".

It will highlight links if they are nofollow, for any web page you visit. This helps as you get to see what links are, without having to delve into the HTML code of the page.

However.

It's almost a complete waste of time. There's far better things to do than get free links.

I wouldn't go that far, but most free links are a waste of time. Getting in DMOZ and getting links from making comments in relevant blogs and forums can bring quite a bit of traffic.

It's all about the approach

Thanks for sharing the knowledge with me! Currently, I check dofollow manually by looking at the page source. I'll search and install the add-on for advance. But I wonder if it shows exactly result Manual check may take time, but sure. I hope that the add-on works well

Agree, but the OP specifically asked about dofollow links which indicates linkbuilding rather than getting traffic.

Not so sure about DMOZ anymore, buy the time I got listed I was already indexed and ranked and over the 5 years of being their have never ever had a visitor. Not saying it won't benefit some people but I suspect the majority won't gain any advantage.

surely the DMOZ issue is flawed as it depends 100% who you get as an editor??? and what type of day they are having.

I've read all over the place that DMOZ is important. Like EWD I got listed/ranked well before DMOZ added me. I think every little thing helps
