For some reason or other MSN / Bing doesn't seem to like my blog as not only does it not rank anywhere but neither do any of the keywords or tags that I use.

All of the major search engines rate me number one for "factoring blog" as well as some of the factoring companies that I write about with searches on companies like Absolute Invoice Finance, Cattles Invoice Finance or Close Invoice Finance returning my blog pages right at the top yet Bing doesn't rank the keywords either.

The top result for the term "factoring blog" on Bing returns factoring-online.net which is one of my diomains that is dormant and actually links to another site altogether.

Two of the links on the first page refer to posts here in which I have maintained a factoring blog yet nothing whatsoever to the blog itself.

Most strange

At least you are getting ranked! I get the occasional visitor from the image search but that's about it.

A games site I run is getting 3% of it's visitors from bing (mainly the USA) but everything else is about zero.

Google gives more preference to off-page optimization factors whereas Bing gives more preference to On-page SEO factors.

In order to achieve higher rankings on Bing.com you must observe keyword density of top ranking competitor websites. You will get some idea.

What a load of rubbish. You don't have any evidence whatsover the Google or Bing (or Yahoo) prefer one thing over another - it's pure speculation.

And to call yourself seo expert uk is a joke considering you are posting from India.

I see the blog is being ranked now.

Generally Bing prefers recent links for higher rankings and on page does have a higher weighting than Google.

It depends on the site structures, page structure, the competition and a whole host of other features.

Haven't yet seen any evidence that leads to a blanket statement regarding preferred ranking criteria for any search engine.

So yes Bing might prefer certain on page features for a site but then so might Google. I have a site ranks ranks almost identical of both search engines, I haven't touched the site for years so I can only assume it is optimised for both. The rules haven't changed:
  • Build your site for people not search engines.
  • Use logical and hierarchal site and page structures.
  • Ensure relevance is maintained across links.
  • Don't try to trick the search engines
SE algo chasing is a self defeating exercise that may well bite you on the bum once they catch up and change the algo.
