I dont understand why a site that is very similar to mine is suddenly from having a lot of hits has trebled. What am I doing wrong that Im not getting indexed as well? Could it be my robot.txt files or something else?

www.mumszone.co.uk is my site. Sorry not sure if I have posted enough to put a link up yet

Google - 34
Altavista - 364
MSN - 0
All the Web - 368
Yahoo - 373

These are my figures. Cant understand why I have google on the site so often as well but very few page rankings for them

If you send me the address of the other website I can use some software I have to compare it against yours (keywords, inbound / outbound links etc). It will also tell you about your keyword to body text ratio etc....

Even if you have more links you may not rank at all.

Google now has an age factor in its algo, so if you have a new site you will not rank for some time.

I am also rather worried that you have no links in MSN - that's normally the easiest place to rank

If you rank #1 on MSN you are on your way. Yahoo will be next, then Google.

SEO is a time game -- be patient.

If everyone could rank #1 overnight will a few hundred links the SERPS would be forever changing

This is very true - but it helps to get the "basics" correct right from the start, it's no good ignoring the basic SEO "bible" and throwing up a website that has irrelevant keywords or no inbound links etc - you could be waiting for a very long time to get a good ranking in the top SE's

I think that Google have seriously got it wrong by sandboxing new websites like they do... It discourages new online businesses and has in itself created the SEO business that makes a fortune from fake promises (in my opinion obviously)

OMG dont no why but when checking my links I have noticed that they are decreasing instead of increasing, why would that happen.

On the link submission checker form I have seen that I now have 1273 with MSN

Thanks for the report Tony

Just to add that I have checked my webstats, Google for example has made 1569 hits on my site so far this month but only 7 are successful hits on "robots.txt" files. Could this be where my problem is?
