I have just used the "Search Engine Position Tool" for my site on PageRank.net and it says the following:
(A) Google/ AOL 06
(B) MSN 01
(C) Yahoo!/ FAST/ AltaVista 06

However when I check the Google link (A) my site is not listed at all? The other two (B) and (C) are accurate and my listing is correct ie on MSN my site is listed #1 and on Yahoo!/ FAST/ AltaVista my site is listed #6.

Why would PageRank.net see my site on Google/ AOL as #6 in the list when infact it is not listed there at all? Can anyone explain?

Your position in the Search Engine Report Page (SERP) depends on the actual search engine index, keywords, global location, language and other filters.

You will often get strange results because (for example) they are searching the .com and you are comparing with the .co.uk SERP.

What URL/keywords did you enter into the fields?

it is likely getting the data from a different dataset

what is the tool you are using, and as previously said,
the search terms you are looking at ?

the tool is "Search Engine Position Tool" and can be found at www.pagerank.net
URL is http://www.squareonemd.co.uk
the term is Graphic Design Gloucestershire

After reading your posts I think I understand what your saying, if I do a search on google.com then the results (SERP) may differ from the results found on google.co.uk - yes?

Absolutely.

And if you use google local and other filters you we see another set of results.

Do the same search with MSN in london and glasgow and once again - different results.

If the user has a google account and is logged in and has "personalised search = on" - they will get different results also

definately not the most accurate tool I have ever seen.
I have multiple #1's that don't show up.

(btw: you have a nice site)

James.
