Problem with broken links - 28-01-2008, 07:12 AM

Hello guys I have a site which is promoted well but suddenly its ranking fell. when I checked complete web site I found webmaster sitemap showing 18 broken links in my site but when I checked it manually I found all my links are working well.
I checked with dead-links tool but no broken links were shown. then why google sitemap tool is showing broken links? Anybody suffering with same condition? are these links broken or it is fake result please give me your valuable advice I really need it.

Regards
Shaun

Don't worry about it. All it means is that the spider couldn't reach the page the last time it indexed the site. In any case, it would only have a tiny effect on your ranking. However, it might be well to check the syntax of the broken links, make sure that everything validates.

I'd concentrate on the pages that are falling off the index, check the titles, headers, anchor text, content, images, description, page structure and so on - look for something that has changed or no longer works, check you have broken any of the guidelines and so on.

Effective Web Design - It's not that difficult if you follow the rules.
