SEO = Search Engine Optimiation
- optimization of websites so that SE's will indexed it

PPC = Pay Per Click

- I think those are advertisement, when ever the advert was clicked the owner will be payed (i think :P)

You are about to enter a whole new world.

If you want to start on the long road to understanding SEO then spend the next couple of week digesting the SEOMoz Beginners guide to SEO:

http://www.seomoz.org/article/beginners-1-page

I'd then take a few months to work your way through the Web Style Guide:

http://www.webstyleguide.com/site/

You need both because SEO is built into the bassic design of a website.

If all you have is a forum though then it's going to be difficult to get anywhere as the forum software is very rigid and doesn't give you much freedom. It might be a good idea to build your own website and do some experimenting.

SEO - process of making your site increase its keyword rankings in search results. (organic traffic from search engines)

PPC - Such advertisements are called sponsored links or sponsored ads, and appear adjacent to or above the "natural" or organic results on SERP, or anywhere a webmaster or blogger chooses on a content page. Content websites commonly charge a fixed price for a click rather than use a bidding mechanism. (paid traffic from search engines)
