Does anyone have current figures on the percentage of searches done on Google, MSN and Yahoo? After those three are there any smaller search engines that have any significant search traffic?

According to the stats from my own websites my visitors via search engines are Google 65% - Yahoo 25% - MSN 8% - with no other search engine managing more than 1%

My site ranks in the top two or three in all of the major search engines so page placing shouldn't be an issue

Thanks Ian

I've had a few other replies to this question and they are largely in the order of Google (always first) Yahoo then MSN. However, the percentages vary enormously and on one thread Google was shown as low as 36% to Yahoo at 30%. Most others have Google as over half the traffic.

We generally get a lot of MSN and Google but we're starting to get a lot more from Yahoo now.

Just the single word "factoring". Inside pages did rank very highly on Google for a number of associated terms like "export factoring" and "factoring invoices" but have suffered badly in the Jagger fallout with the latter falling from second place to somewhere outside the top 100 results.

Why are you all relying heavily on google?

None of my work has come from google and im over loaded with work and at 6.26am new years day im still working and i cant keep up with the work im getting even with 3 web masters helping me and im dead on my feet and couldnt even spend it with my kids for fear of not meeting those deadlines and im just a nobody.I do not use SEO at all.

I think SEO has become an obsession for competition amongst those so vain they want to do so well that they think if they rank top they have achieved something.. I know one guy that is number one on yahoo and google but he doesnt have the resources to cater for the amount of hits he is getting and needs for his service. he is now losing business. SEO is over estimated and there is nothing like the good old fashioned methods.

Being number one in search engines will either make you or break you.

Your so full of nonsense.

If more than 90% of internet users find sites using search engines how can SEO not be important.

If dont want the traffic they hey, dont bother.

But business's generally want more business not less.
