Hello my site has been getting quite regular visits each week and I am quite happy with the traffic increase so far, to get those visits I use a couple of methods a. I post to about 30 social bookmarking sites I also use twitter and facebook. But I seem to be leveling out at around about 40 people per day and have been getting that number for about a week now.

Is there anything I can do to continue to increase the amount of traffic I am getting so I can start getting in to the 100's of visits a day?

Any help would be great.

All you need is lots of interesting and informative content that the search engines can index.

Unless you can deliver something that people want to read/buy then there is no incentive to visit.

Question, how many of your visitors return? What is your bounce rate?

Thanks for the reply fisicx, in answer to your questions.

My bounce rate in the last 5 days has bee on average 67.94% and I have had 145 new visitors compared to 45 returning visitors.

I also have 26 rss subscribers with a reach of 21.

So those 200 visitors should have generated at least 8 sales. If they didn't then that what you need to work on. At the same stime your bounce rate should be below 50%, good sites will be down to 20% so there's lots of work needed there as well.

It's far easier to increase conversions rather then increase visitors.

Most Internet site traffic today are Bots, even on our forum some times it tells us that 10 or more people are reading items on it, yet maybe only 1 or 2 humans are reading.
Bots run over lots of sites, if your site gets 100 hits per day 90 of those 100 hits will be non human bots.
Some software is available that is costly and it can be run on a site like ours say for a week, then you see that from 5000 hits only 500 were people who hit it, sorry a lot wont like this truth, as it hurts but it is true.

Do you mean that out of that 40 people visiting most if not all of them will be bots?

Forums and other similar sites tend to get a far higher percentage of robots, phishers, and spamming software but a content rich site will have more humans than robots visiting.

If you use a decent analytic package then it will filter out all the bots. Google analytics is free but I prefer getclicky as it's much simpler to use.

As an example, one site of mine gets 3000 visitors per day. According to the server logs, only 7 robots visited yesterday making a total of 190 server calls.
