Thumbs up Which way is better to promote a site? - 12-05-2006, 05:52 AM

Should the whole website keep the consistent keyword in title / meta description / meta keyword? Or should each page use different title / meta description / meta description?

Thank You

I believe that it is best to have different page titles and descriptions for each page as the search engines are more likely to return more than one page in the search results - and that is what I do with my sites

I agree. Not only will search results return more pages per search, but you'll also get returns from more keywords and phrases, and the search will be more specific.

You can go further.

Most of the major search engines look for keyword relevance not just the keywords themselves.

This means that the phrase 'specialist books from pageturner books in hiding-in-the-mist' will appeal more to the SE than 'specialist books' or 'pageturner books'.

It follows therefore that to really make the most of your keywords you can have different phrases in your title, headers, metatags and opening paragraph but all containing the keywords 'specialist, books, pageturner etc'.

And if you then use these keywords again in your anchor text and alt tags you will really begin to interest the robots.

In other words, making your webpages user friendly will make them SE friendly.

You can focus on the Long Tail of your keywords as well.
