Advertising and IT support - 02-03-2005, 05:02 PM

I've just started an Advertising Agency. We also do IT support. We are based in London, East London to be more precise. Any advice on getting some contracts or getting started alltoghether is more than welcome. Thank You.

I run a consultancy that works predominately with marketing/design agencies - if I can be of any help then don't hesitate to get in touch.

Ive often wondered what SME's do for IT Support. Personally having a web development company I am pretty okay with I.T Support as I have a good understanding of I.T as I've worked in the industry for over 10 years, or have friends that work in I.T. But not sure if other businesses get in touch with an I.T Company or would just speak to PC World about it.

What do you guys do for I.T Support if your having problems?

My guess is that you will see every variation from DIY, which is what I do - the last time I asked PC World to fix something I ended up walking out in disgust, I was being lazy, getting someone else to do something I could have done myself and watching the idiot in their little workshop making an incompetent mess of failing to do the job just made me resolve never to go back in the place again. I must admit I will go there if I absolutely need something today, but otherwise I can buy better and cheaper at Dabs, Scan or on Ebay.

I have a degree in computer science, but I am as cluless as any other small business. In my professional days we had IT support to call in with problems that where automajically fixed. Its just another thing an SME must cope with, be a jack of all trades, or know a jack in all trades.

I think when you startup, the best way to get contracts is through word of mouth and local advertising.

I was into web design and saw a need where professional service providers can sell services in a professional manner. That inspired me to lauch my outsourcing services marketplace.

For I.T support, I outsource all my services to one of my friend who runs a I.T support company near my office.

V Strange mix of products and services.

As for IT support. prospect profiling gives by far the highest ROI

Either way good luck

I work as an IT professional and provide both on site and remote repairs to all my customers. Something thats made me more popular than ever is to be able to provide repairs on the day of a report or next morning at the latest. I always try to provide the least amount of downtime for my customers. All i can recommend is never leave a customer waiting more than 24 hours for a call out or repair. I have been run ragid in the past but with remote work possible now a days you can most repairs without leaving the office. Always do your best to keep your customers happy. Also when you visit a client leave 10 business cards with them so that they can recommend you to thier friends and work associates. This for me has worked much better than placing an advert in any paper or local yellow pages. I hope this helps.

The most succesful individual and marketers who makes money are affiliates/associates. Their effective advertising on the internet is really useful. Help and suggestions how they advertise and market products can be learned from their articles.
