Re: The Apprentice UK Series 3 - 26-04-2006, 11:25 AM

I think we all need to know our markets and obviously TV is focused on the entertainment side. Can't really blame them for that. And tho' there may be some rudeness shown, surely no worse than what we all face in real business life (gosh - in my marketing consultancy days some pitches i loathed with frightful people, but ya dont know that til your there).

On plus side i'm gently quite surprised by the ideas that get taken up (think of the dragons den and truffle idea), so they do some positive business support. As for apprentice - surely that wot they're signing up to? I couldnt do it but then alan sugar wouldnt want me either so that's a good deal :-)

I think we get edited highlights, surely the participants get a lot more time and positive feedback that we just dont see.

You have a point about the entertainment, but on the other hand the way they treat people who go to them ith their ideas is a bit over the top.

I have barely seen any of the apprentice this time, it's pretty boring for me already. It would be better if they competed for 1 million instead of a crap job with a rude man.

Dragons den is only a fraction better...not for the dragons or the money side of the show... i find it interesting just seeing what ideas people have come up with, i would much rather watch an "invention show"

just my 2c's

I watched a couple of episodes of the first series of each programme. Initially interesting, but i soon got bored.

However, I caught the last 10 mins of The Apprentice last night. 4 candidates were witled down to 2. These people are supposed to be business people. What i saw was 4 people grovelling, kissing a***, pleading and offering exagerated excuses as to why they should get a chance to work with the bearded wonder.

I suggest that they stop being cretins and go back to their other businesses/jobs and set about doing what they do best, not grovelling for a chance to work with AS.

Mike.

I stopped watching it after a couple of episodes too. Way to bitchy to be enjoyable to watch, I wouldn't want anyone one of those to work for me or with me on anything, I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

it's a strange show this time

some of the candidates had no real business experience at all

I hate it when a 28 y/old who has just got their MBA thinks the business world owes them a living

Even some last night were saying "and I can take your business to the next level"

yeah right....so they are "consultants" then

You can see that on the web too Peter, some young kid telling you on some forum he knows more than you, even though you've been in business for the last 12 years, especially when they are giving out rubbish information that they found in a text book somewhere.

Books are OK, but not the same as hands on experience. I started working at 14 and learned everything I know from actual work. Those on the apprentice wouldn't know real work if it jumped up and bit them on the bum!

too right

I just keep hearing one of them saying "I will take your business to the next level"

It's just too funny for words

Even I couldn't do that - a very profitable £800m company - to the next level by a 27/8 year old ..

I've watched most of the episodes of this series. However I find the candidates' calibre a lot lower than the first series for instance.

It was funny how, when the 4 left were asked, why did you give up your high-paid blah blah job to get a chance to work for Alan Sugar, that none of the answers sounded really plausible. More money? Some were already earning a nice salary and could have got there without AS, no doubt.

Is this lot just participating to appear on TV?

Out of the two that are left, I think AS wouldn't want any of them! He's going to regret that one!
