This free seminar is aimed at anybody involved in the design or manufacture of any functional item with or without decoration – from packaging to automotive components and from clothes to domestic appliances.
Design rights can protect three-dimensional designs where the design results from the features of the shapes, lines, colours, contours, materials or texture of a particular item. Protection can also extend to two-dimensional designs including such logos and textile and other surface patterns. Compared to other types of intellectual property protection, registering a design is relatively straightforward and may provide a 25 year monopoly. Also, although not as strong, unregistered rights are automatic for qualifying designs.
Organised by intellectual property attorneys Crossguard and solicitors Wright Hassall, the seminar will take place at Wright Hassall, Olympus Avenue, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, CV34 6BF and run from 4.15pm to 5.45pm. There will be an opportunity afterwards to quiz the speakers in more detail.
