Charges for mileage - 10-08-2008, 11:19 PM

Hi

Unsure about what is the usual thing to do. For the service I offer I will travel 20 miles away from base and thereafter I charge 40p/mile. If I had a job that was 30 miles away, do I charge £4 or £8, do I charge for the 10 miles extra to the job location thereby=£4 or do I charge for the 10 miles extra to the job location and 10 miles back thereby=£8??

When you book a taxi, do they charge you for the journey to your house?

Keep it simple, have a map on the wall with concentric circles around the office and a charge bonad for each increasing circle.

If you are charging 40p/mile then this must mean your vehicle is registered for business use with the increased insurance premiums... Need to be careful here, if you are doing this as a 'hobby' then you can't really start charging business rate travelling costs.

Effective Web Design - It's not that difficult if you follow the rules.
