Logo Design - 30-09-2005, 12:26 PM

I am at the initial planning stages of opening a small clothing and accessory shop. I would like some advice on who I can ask to design a company logo for me. I know what design I would like and feel that it would be a simple enough idea to produce but can I ask a local printers or sign writers to produce the design or do I have to contact a specialist? I would appreciate any advice.

Hi Han, some printers offer design inhouse, others require you to have the logo as a print ready file for them to use. Being a designer myself, I would of course recommend you to get it professionally designed before going to print ;-) Perhaps if you post the design on here you can get some comments from the members of whether it needs a more professional touch.

The logo for my website was done by a company called www.Paradyne-designs.com and they were very professional and pretty cheap.

Hope that helps.

Printers can do it if its simple, but in my experience the graphics department can be a bit sloppy. The logo should be a VECTOR, this is a file type that will stretch to any size you need which is essential if your logo will ever be sign written, and useful if the logo will appear on printed designs as it can stretch to any size without losing quality.

Many companies specialise in logo design, such as http://www.logotwister.com/ but they are fairly expensive for somebody who has done the hard part of coming up with the idea!

Im a designer if you send me your idea I will tell you what I would charge to do it if that would be useful information for you when approaching printers/designers for prices.
