hi Everyone
I'm a newbie here,so please forgive me if I'm asking silly questions.I have 2 questions.

1. I am planning on opening a cafe and want to read some market research on trends ie demographic breakdown, the most popular types of cuisine etc. I know that Mintel do reports on this kind of thing but I cannot really part with that kind of money ( from about £1000).
I have heard that the British Library stocks these but I have been and the reports they have a quite old ,sometimes 3 or 4 years old. Does anyone know where else I can get this kind of information for free? I have done some internet searches to no avail.


2. I want a demographic breakdown of London Boroughs.This will help in deciding where I open the cafe. I have found some research on some of the boroughs but again they are old and I can't find a general document that covers the whole of London.
Any ideas?

The reason you are unlikely to get this information for free is because it cost a lot of money to carry out the research. If you can't afford the money to assess your potential business opportunities how are you going to raise the capital to set up a cafe (which will likely cost 10s of thousands)?

Any, have your tried looking at the individual council websites, they often publish statistics. Have a look at wikipedia or the national audit office as well. It may be that you won't find everything in one place but by using a number of sources you might be able to get the information you need.
