my images of a champion+idea

Hi to you all.

I have learned alot from just reading these posts and find it all great stuff.

A question or two from me to pick your brains.

Firstly, i have an idea or two that would require software writing , the concept, an application which people could access and use from their mobiles or p.c.

Any ideas or knowledge if i can get on "out of the box online software writing solution" similar to those that can create a website online? or is it all a specialised field to write software still?.

Also, as a fan of Lance Armstrong i went to the Tour de France and took 2-3 great photos of him. I wish to create a selling website to sell my images of Lance (on mugs etc), the feedback i have received certainly warrants it, the demand is certainly there. I am not a professional photographer, merely a fan who happened to be in the right place at the right time.

I wish to know the following. As the race was in the public open arena, i can think of no real reason i cannot sell the images i took, you did not have to buy a ticket to attend the event, therefore unlike a concert forbidding photos being taken.. I own the pictures and therefore the copyright to them. BUT do people feel i can legally use his name to promote my sales, or would i need to obtain his permission to do so? without it , i feel i would be using his name and achievements to profit, that seems wrong.
also i would feel it appropiate to give some of the profit from the sale of my prints to his charity Livestrong, having e-mailed the official site to ask the best way forward. I am based in the UK and have yet to receive any reply, or acknowedgement that the e-mails to his site have even been received, what is business ettiquet in the sending of e-mails and the subsequent awaiting a reply to them? i feel i am sat here like a lemon if the e-mail from me never even reached the site in the first place..
