need advice - urgently. - 25-06-2004, 11:41 PM

Hi a few days ago i launched a forum provided by proboards ( a free forum provider ). I will soon be launching my very own website and thought i will shift these forums to my web site, but the forums i am going to have on my new web site will be in PHPbb, and the forums on proboards dont allow backups. Now as my site may take about 2 months to get ready, i wanted to immidiately shift my forum to some free phpbb forum providing web site, as my forums are starting to get active, and new members are slowly joining in. Now if i switch over now, i will have to manually re-register all my users and also make the posts, but still as its in initial stages it can be done, but after 2 months from now, the no. of members and posts may both grow up, so i wont be able to manually do everything. Now i wanted to know is there a free phpbb provider, which will allow me to take a back up later ? so what else can i do in this situation ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

As I said before if you host your website with any cpanel host you will get phpbb installed for free in about 2 seconds from the control panel.

Just ensure your host has cpanel

Best to get the phpbb forum sorted now asap. There's little sense in worry about free hosting - if the forum means anything to you, spend $3-5 per month on US shared hosting.

Exactly - a very low cost and it's all menu driven - easy for anyone to use
