Paypal is great (and easy to use), but doesn't seem right in this instance.

A 'boss' is mentioned, which indicates employment. Are there tax implications in receiving 'wages' by paypal ?

Who is paying the NIC's etc ?
Do you have a contract with your 'boss' (are you tied to only looking after them or dedicated to serving them for a percentage of your day?)

As long as records are kept and tax is set aside for 'judgement day', it shouldn't be a problem.

Regarding the use of Paypal in this instance. Surely it's horses for courses. I can understand that there are instances where Paypal is a must. For example I never bid on eBay auctions if the seller doesn't accept Paypal. I can't see that it gels with receiving "wages" though. If my boss told me that it was going to cost me an extra 4% in charges to access money that I've already earned he'd be looking for a replacement before the end of the month.

Regards

Joy

As a payment tool for products or services then this is fine, but if you have other options (eg direct bank credits or cheque) then take these.

I too have paypal and use it frequently (incoming and outgoing)

Still appears that you are an employee until you find other clients.
