Exclamation A new business needs a good first point of contact - 05-08-2005, 02:38 PM

Having the Right Number is an extremely cost-effective way of projecting a professional image for your business.

More professional image
Memorable.
Good first point of contact.
Increased response rate (0800 = 150% over 2 months – 0845 = 76%)
Increased sales.
More value for your advertising.

Increase your sales with the Right Number

A professional image can make all the difference between success and failure for a business. One of the first points of contact your customers will see is your phone number, and the impression a potential customer gets is all-important.

Increase advertising response rate by up to 150%

If you are spending money on advertising, stationery or business cards, make sure that you are maximising the return on this response by having the right number. Studies have shown that introducing an 0800 or 0845 number as a company’s main contact number can increase response rates by between 75% and 150%.

Attract New Customers Now

Who would you do business with: Someone who trades with a mobile number, or a company with a professional, memorable number? If you see two similar adverts in the paper, which would you call, the number which costs you 20 pence a minute, or the number which is billed at local call rate, or even free?

Studies can show a variety of things depending on how they are conducted. Whilst I can understand the appeal of a freephone number I very much doubt whether most people could care less whether a paid number is 0845 or regional and in my own case I prefer to keep my regional dialling code as I think that it adds an appearance of solidity as the 0845 number is the telephonic equivalent of a PO Box number.

Just my opinion of course

Point taken.

When I originally started my business about 5 months ago I had the same opinion that you have. I had an 0207 number that people could call but for the first few weeks even after posting a couple of ads, I had minimal response.

I was then convinced by one of my buddies to get an 08 number. I splashed out on a gold 0800 number to use for only a month or so.

I made £5000 profit in 2 months. It was not bad at the time considering that I was then "a one man band".

Any views on memorable mobile phone numbers?

How much would you pay for 07077 007 007
