PAYG Mobile - 22-12-2007, 11:26 AM

As I'm only a small business (Sole Trader), I have a mobile phone on a PAYG tarriff. Because of this I don't get an itemised phone bill. The only evidence is a receipt after I top up the phone. This is usally about £10 every 3 months.

Can I claim the whole top up amount through expenses or do I have to note the balance after every business call and work out how much it cost? If so, how would I prove I made the call. I know with my landline I just highlight the calls when I get my phone bill.

Many Thanks

Mike

The amounts appear relatively small anyway, but there would be no problem in claiming everything you spend on your PAYG mobile as an expense - not least because it can't be proven, one way or another, what the calls you made relate to.

Simply get (and file) a receipt whenever you top-up your mobile, just to prove how much you have spent, and you'll be fine.

For my PAYG mobile I can look up my call history on the providers website -in my account. Why not ask if this facility is avail for your service.

A gree with prev contributor - just use the reciept for the top up as evidence.
