Worthwhile Directories

Does anyone know of any directories to recommend that are actually worth being listed in for traffic?

Freeindex.co.uk is pretty popular and a number of people I know have been very successful in niche directories.

Not sure what type of directory you are looking for but www(dot)ukdatabase(dot)net are a huge UK B2B email Directory offering full contact Data. Is that that the sort of thing? Email marketing seems to be very popular nowadays.

For london they are quite a few but often they require paid listing to get a weblink back. Otherwise the dmoz.org is also good to be on.

Dmoz is pretty much worthless for traffic and since David isn't interested in a linkback there's not a lot of point in paying for a listing if there's no traffic.

Fair point. I believe backlinks are somewhat important however in the grand scheme of things. Any suggestions which directories are useful for a free listing or worthwhile paid listings with regard to backlinks as there are only so many friends and colleagues one can get links from.
