It's never been thought necessary as there aren't many rules. The purpose of this forum is for the discussion of business ideas and to help answer business problems and not self promotion.

Yep its a signature at the bottom of your posts. It allows you to include your website url which obviously promotes your business, only long term users are allowed to be self promoting in this way...allegedly :P

Hi,

I think the role an important role of a sig should be something like a business card, and maybe let other forum members know a little about your business background and expertise.

Having said that, I contribute in other forums and I get regular visits from people who click on my sig links, so yes there's certainly an element of self-promotion there too. Moderators have a lot of experience on who's more interested in self promo posting rather than discussion, and will act accordingly.

I think on the whole the mods apply the rules fairly. If we did not have the 1 month and 30 posts rule the forum would probably be over run with people just promoting themselves.

Personally I find the advice that is given in answer to other peoples questions is often invaluable to me also. Thats why it is important that it is not seen just as a vehicle for self promotion. This forum is a valuable resource and people need to respect the rules.

Regards m1ntie
