PM spam is now history :)

We've had a spate of PM spam recently
I had set new members up with a PM inbox of 5 and a minimum of 60 seconds between each PM in the hope they would get fed up and not continue - but alas these folks have time on their hands.

So from today, any new member has no PM abilities at all.
You get upgraded after 15 days and 10 posts.
Pls let me know if you think this is good or bad

In view of the fact that three people joined up over the weekend specifically to spam members through the PM system I think that it's an excellent idea.

As one of those who was spammed by a new “member” I have to agree with the new measure. But spammers are a resourceful bunch. Let’s see what the come up with next.

Peter - just my 2p worth but I joined recently as a new member and used PM a couple of times to ask questions in my first couple of weeks - Spam is totally undesireable but we want to make new members fel welcome so probably tell them up front when they join the 15 day / 30 day / posts promotions

it's a tough one - but I guess if people come here to particpate and network with others, rather than simply spam members here, then it's never an issue

now PM spam has gone we just get regular post spam

these guys must have time on their hands because there is a large timeline between each post

I just don't understand it either, because they must know their posts are going to get deleted ?
