Re: Are we allowed to have sigs - 11-08-2006, 01:05 PM

Hello...

My apologies to you if i have misunderstood this thread. what i was refering to was this...........

We don't like spammers here so there are no signature allowed until you have been a member for 30 days and have made 30 posts.

Now i am aware of the spammers as I have no love for them either all they do is take up space and create more threads in an effort to get clicks or generate sales.

What i was refering to is my business name or the "link" i leave under my name. [url="http://www.directory.biz-giant.com"]BIZ-GIANT DIRECTORY[url]
Unlike them I do not create hundreds of threads, In an effort to generate sales or what not.

What I am trying to say is I dont have the luxery of waiting 30 days for this forum to realize im not a spammer.

That is why I commented above that you should make a advertising section for those members who dont have the time to wait 30 days for thier link to be accepted. The only rule that should be considered is that they are only allowed to post every 30 days 1 new thread and only to that thread after the 30 day grace period has elapsed.

If your forum would consider such alternatives then it would grow faster and have much more to offer its associates.

Thank you
malcolm

but we want people to stay for longer than 30 days. if you havn't got the luxury of hanging around for as little as a month then there's no point even starting to post. it's not all about advertising, it's about creating a useful exchange of comments, views, advice etc.

We have a "buy, sell or trade" forum which is where the self promotion is acceptable. Live links won't work in that directory though and url's have to be cut & pasted into the browser.

There is no doubt that if we allowed unlimited hyperlinking we would attract far more members but the forum wouldn't remain much more than a link farm. I noticed a couple of weeks ago on a fairly new business forum that one particular individual had joined and made 53 posts in his first day. A closer examination showed that he "greeted" every other member in their introductions forum with exactly the same wording, which included not only a sales pitch but also a hyperlink to his website.

Quality is preferable to quantity in my book

yes, thanks Ian.

Some business forums have hundreds of posts each day but most are saying "hi" to each other or talking about television programs.

Luckily we don't have that here and concentrate on growing your business(es) profitabilty through sharing ideas and experiences whether you have an offline or internet business (or both)
