What can be improved here?

- what would make this forum your forum of choice

and enabling the QUOTE function to work properly would be really nice (if only because it's more aesthetically pleasing)

Always great to see people asking for feedback.

I was surprised that there isn't a sales and selling section. I don't mean marketing; and I don't mean a section to tell people what you do (that is marketing too); or what contracts should look like. I mean a section covering the principles and methods behind selling. It seems like an obvious omission given that this is one of the most important areas to get right to make any business work.

What do you think?

That's interesting. Why do you think that is? Because everyone on the site is great at it? Or because no one on the site sells?

I'm just curious.

I have indeed asked the question on one other forum that has got behind our site so I've been spending a bit of time on. I know there are forums that cater specifically for sales, so I wonder whether it's a case of each to their own. If so I had no idea the "forums market" was so like that. Does that mean it is mature or fractured?

What I am saying is, that in the general/ starting up forums we don't get many sales specific questions...

If there were, there would be an opportunity to add a seperate section - this has happened for say "legal" where there is a seperate forum now.

we continually monitor and nothing is fixed in stone by any of the business forums online that I am aware of as we are still developing

Fair enough Peter, thanks. I have asked the question in the Starting Up section to see what the general user community has to say about it.

As someone with a sales background and with so much emphasis on web marketing on these pages I find it really, really curious.

I guess most people have online businesses and think of the whole thing as "internet marketing" and miss out the sales processes.

Perhaps folks don't seperate Sales and Marketing and put it all under marketing ?

Maybe, but internet marketing is quite different to sales isn't it? Internet marketing will drive people to a site and it you can complete a sale online then job done, potentially. But don't your forum viewers also speak to customers ahead of purchase? If not then I guess it would explain everything...

Perhaps, perhaps not. But the process of sales is there whether you are speaking to a customer or writing. I just think the disciplines have blurred lines as after all it's called "internet marketing" and not "internet sales"
