How does this site contribute to your work? Are you a developer of websites by trade? (or are you the disco group?)

I was surprised by the term 'disco' because it is '70ish',here in the USA.

The aspect ratio of you pictures appear off in some instances making them bluring to see!

It appears that you have put more into your content than web design, but I think that there could be an improvement with you salesmanship. (as text)

Some of the links appear too small; I would encourage easier sizes in design.

Excellent site because it is simple but sweet.

Hi Peter,

The site is quite well put together - all the important bits are in place.

But....

It's boring.

There is no zing, no sparkle, no wow factor. You tell us all about your amazing light show but there's not one picture of it in action.

There is way too much text. You keep repeating yourself and the grammar is a bit wonky at times: '...or a mate's uncle who he will do it on the cheap for you'.

The main nav can be slimmed down - try to reduce it to 5 or 6 links. Too many links and you lose focus.

The logo is about 30 years out of date! Reminds me of an old Earth, Wind and Fire album cover.

So here's my suggestions:

Lose the dark backgrounds, increase the font size and add some colour. Lots of pictures of you in action - maybe even a video clip of the light show. Put testimonials on every home page, run a script so a different one displays on each page load. Rework your copy, write a killer opening paragraph and add some supporting text but make sure every word has purpose. Don't be tempted to keep adding to the text. Page titles could do with a little work and you need unique descriptions for every page to display in the SE snippets.

Apart from that the site's pretty good.

OK but it wouldn't hurt to experiment with a digital camera. I saw a site the other day where the guy had set up the camera on the lighting gantry behind him and had a clip of everybody dancing - looked pretty good.

It's the copy that can make or break a site - poor grammar and turgid prose can kill any enthusiasm. Treat each page like a sales pitch. Use the DJ banter to build a rapport with your visitors.

Page titles are OK but a little spammy. You do rank well but ideally want to see the whole thing on the results pages - that means a maximum of 60 characters.

Logo may be black but the site is grey. A disco is exciting, grey is a bank manager. Don't know how you built the site but experimenting with the CSS alloows to really play with the layout. I'd reccomend large black text on white with some bold colours for the headers.

Why not set up a range of layouts, take a screenshot and lets us have a looksee.

In any case, it's nice to change things around once in a while - I tend to go for a redesign once a year. I don't change the site - just the CSS. It takes about an hour for the basic format then a couple of days fiddling to get it how I like it. The best thing is if it all goes pear shaped you just load up the back up and start again.
