Feedback needed for my website - 29-09-2006, 09:55 PM

Hi guys,

Just about to finish getting my new "export website" done...would love to have your feedback on the design. www.mongaglobalexports.com ... There isn't much info on the site yet, as work is still being done..but would love to have some feedback on the design

Well, it's a very clean design and the colours suit it very well - I suppose if I were to add a bit of critism then it would be that a) the menu items are duplicated (on top of each other) and I find the pictures of the girls / women in the header REALLY ANNOYING because most of their heads are missing - I find myself trying to scroll up when I am already at the top...!

It's a very promising design though - well done

you really need some sort of meta tag contribution on the site to make your page titles etc, quite easy to install on an oscommerce based site. also I would look at the contributions for sitemaps which will upload all your product and categories to google.

Site seems be down at the moment.

Note to squalid - metatags won't put a title on your page, the <title> tag is not a metatag.

note to fisicx

the contribution called dynamic meta tags for oscommerce will change the page titles

instead of -

<?php
<title><?php echo TITLE; ?>

you will put

<?php
require(DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'meta_tags.php');
?>

which will refer to the meta_tags.php file that controls - most importantly Page Titles so all pages have their own titles based on product_info page

squalid - thanks, never knew that.

ash - your main header is a background and on my widescreen it repeats so that I get a bit of MONGA on the right. And because backgrounds are the last thing to load I sat waiting with wodges of whitescreen and nothing to read while I was waiting.

The server seems to be really slow, it took ages to get the product boxes on screen. And because I normally have larger fonts on screen, the descriptions overspill the boxes.

However, from a usability point of view, most of your products are way below the fold - customers like to see all the useful information on the screen without scrolling.

And I agree about the headless models!

Graham

Hello Ash
Should there not be meta tags for description and keywords? Also agree re a lot of scrolling neede.
Your site is possibly insecure. If you put
http://www.mongaglobalexports.com/images/
in the browser it displays the folder listing. The server (Apache?) should be set to prevent this.
regards
Patrick
