Looking for Constructive Criticism/Reviews. - 17-11-2004, 12:35 PM

Hi there

I am looking for constructive criticism regarding our website for our website design company.

As developers ourselves we sometimes forget that we are not the people who will be visiting the site and I would like to know if anyone has any recommendations regarding the content, navigation, or even the layout of the website.

Any criticism would be better than none, so if you have any ideas or suggestions please let us know.

The url is: http://www.jamuk.com/

To my amateur eyes I feel that there is too much text on each page and not enough graphics resulting in the site looking a bit daunting to take in.

We live in the era of the sound bite and very short attention spans and I think that websites like yours (and mine) have to keep it short and snappy.

The other thing that I noticed is that pages only take up two thirds of my screen and are locked to the left

Hello there,

My first impression of your site is that it was very text heavy ... particularly the 'website design' page. I'm a designer myself, so perhaps I'm not best placed to judge (I'm not your audience), but it's my belief that we work in a primarily visual medium and that we should appeal to the visual sense as much as possible. I'd look to break up some of that text with text as images, or other pictures.

I found it strange that if I wanted to learn About Jam Design, I had to go to the bottom of the page.

I like the FAQ section a lot - hardly any designers have this - but again, it's tucked away at the bottom. If they're genuinely 'frequently asked' then I'd make it more prominent.

Anyway - I hope this helps in some way! Good luck with future projects,

David

I agree with the above, there is too much text and too much scrolling. The colours look a little dull, I would look to add some nice blues or perhaps orange. I don't like the default links, add a CSS to this and also your logo could do with being reviewed to tie in with layout.

Hope this helps. Are you a freelance designer or a company?

Dan
