hi there
it was issued by avon themselves (thats why is the same as everyone elses) and they reckon it is going to be a good business tool for advertising my Avon sales leadership business. however i'm not very clued up with regards to advertising it etc. it is free for the next couple of month but then it will cost me 5 pound per three weeks to have. Rebecca,
Can you change anything on the site or is it an 'as is' solution proved by Avon? As to being a marketing tool I'm not sure how it is going to help you. Because everybody on 'myavon' has the same site the search engines will effectively ignore 99% of them. The reason being that search engines will consider one of the sites and rank it accordingly. Everybody else's site will then be regarded as a clone and not appear in the results page. They will only display one of the 'myavon' pages for a specific set of keywords, they won't show all the 'similar sites'. It follows therefore that you will get some visitors from those people you hand your business card to but all they can do on the site is become an Avon representative - there are no products to buy or any means to get to the main Avon site. But since you have given them your business card they already know you and no doubt you have informed them of the opportunities available to them. So I'm not sure how this can be a business tool to advertise your service. You can of course drive traffic to the site by promoting it on forums and other social networking sites but everybody else is going to be doing the same thing! |

Do Avon allow you to sell their goods online? I don't think I have ever seen them online... If there is nothing against the rules setting up an ecommerce site for Avon goods then that might be an idea for someone
![]() EDIT: I've just checked and it seems that Avon have their own online ecommerce setup - cutting out their own reps. Feel free to contact me with any website issues. |

hi guys
thanks for the input, im afraid it is an 'as is' solution proved by avon. the only page i can actually change is the why i love avon page which i was thinking of adding some of my team's testimonials as mr bigdog had suggested. Hi TWD Tony, we as representatives, don't actually sell online. The website is another way to recruit representatives into our own teams, so need to catch the leads before they go to the Avon uk main site or they will be signed up directly to Avon i.e Avon have diversified into network marketing now. just wondered what you all thought as Other Sales leaders are not very happy with the quality websites at the moment mainly due to the back office and restrictions Avon have put on advertising the site. we have leaflet drops and hand out cards also advertise in local papers and such forth. i thought that it may just give people that little bit more info or just something to look at before they replied to an advert etc. the cost for it is nothing at the moment, as it is on a trial period but when that finishes it will cost 5 pound per campaign (which is a three week period). I really don't think it is worth the money. If you are already doing leaflet drops and handing out cards as well as the parties then you will be making yourself known to a lot of potential agents.
To gain a new agent via the 'website' you are going to have to spend many hours on the computer link dropping into as many forums, social networks and directories you can find. But so will everybody else. The end result will be thousands of Avon reps all competing in the same market place. You also need to realize that a link drop in a forum only remains fresh for a day or two, after that your post will steadily fade away (if it isn't deleted by the moderators). Directories are no better since they attract so few visitors. The actual chances of anyone visiting your site are therefore slim and at best only 1 in 100 will actually make contact. And if that 1 person signs up then you need to make £5 from them just to cover your costs. In reality I suspect that you will achieve very little for your efforts. It is notoriously difficult to attract visitors from this type of marketing and since you have almost no control over the content of the website you can't actually put the elements in place that convert a potential agent into a real one. I'm not saying it won't be successful, it's just that you need to do an awful lot of work over many months to make it so. |
