Hi,
I've just completed my retail website littlebrownmug.co.uk selling mugs by art potters and artisan potteries. I launched it around ten days ago. My head is still spinning.
The aim is to market the mug as a perfect present - leaving present, good luck present or whatever. I wanted a subtle, hopefully classy looking site to tempt people who have money to spend but I'm wondering if perhaps it needs to be a bit more in your face after all.
I intend changing the banner as swiftly as possible and I'm getting an SEO tutorial later this week but any thoughts at all would be gratefully received.
Thanks.
Thanks for reply and encouraging comments.
Unfortunately I was working out how to post threads and put that title in while I was experimenting then forgot to replace it when I posted the thread.
I did hear of someone at Lloyds Bank doing something similar when they were knocking up a letter to send out to every customer with over a 100k in their account. They put Dear Rich Bastard at the top of the letter which then got sent out to thousands of customers. Inevitably he got the sack!
Very competitive area in Google - so make sure you call out your usps clearly in your site description/meta data - preferably using terms people might search for (not too generic)
I agree the site looks a little home made, but I don't see that as a bad thing with it being a craft item being sold. Nothings more dull than yet another template site.
The biggest issue I would say is theres no link to enter the shop in the main menu. To begin with I thought it was just a test layout before adding in some products. Then when I scrolled down to the bottom of the introduction I found the link.
I would think this link in the menu and adding a small selection of products on the front page would be beneficial.
