Hello Everyone

I have launched my first e-commerce site on 01/05/2009 to sell perfume and fragrances online

planetperfume.co.uk

The site is now complete and I have started Google adwords campaign to get some visitors but have not got any sales

Please could you take a few moments to view my site and provide any feedback negative or positive and suggestions for improvements

Feel free to visit the shopping basket and checkout and add products but please do not make live transaction as the site is no longer on test mode

Many thanks for you time

To be honest you are going to struggle to get a foothold into the online perfume market. There are thousands of competitors all selling the same products at roughly the same prices so you don't offer anything that stands out.

As to making no sales, I see a page for Escada Magnetism that has three products all out of stock and the prices are much higher than your competitors. People looking for cheap perfume will go for the best deals. I also checked Google, you don't have an advert for Escada Magnetism so anyone searching for this product won't ever find your store.

Sorry for the harse words but you are very unlikely to succeed in a very competitive market unless you have something special to offer and your chances of an organic ranking are practically nil so you will be relying on PPC for years to come.

Your site looks comfortable but somehow the color is too light. Your choices of keywords are so competitive. It'll be hard for you to get traffic. But be patient! Usually, key phrases are encouraged.

Relating to the website rather than your business the first think that caught my eye was the sitemap link which is strangely placed between the top menu and shopping basket at the top of the homepage.

Other than that the website looks fine to me, a little bland in design maybe, but it does the job.

Hi,

I like the look and feel of your site and it is a benefit that this is the accompanying website to a bricks and mortar business. Like has been said before, the market is awash with perfumery websites. It may be a good idea to offer an incentive, a voucher code that could be passed out with purchases when sold instore to then use on the internet.

It's been said already but before you look at your marketing you should really make sure that your site is A) in a position to compete, if you cannot do internet prices then it's a complete waste of you time and efforts going the ecommerce route.

The internet is by a million miles the most competitive sale arena the world has ever known and simply getting yourself a website will not get you anywhere (i know its harsh but it's true).

Stock items can be a pain for any ecommerce store so try wherever you can to ensure you are listing stocked items, many websites fall short on this subject choosing to concentrate their efforts of the more exciting and glamorous 'marketing' of the website rather than the nuts n bolts of the actual store.

Hello

Thanks to everyone who viewed my website and replied with a feedback.

I am getting regular orders by lowering my advertising cost on adwords, which does help and using the remain budget on shopping comparison sites which is very expensive but extremly helpful for sales

Thanks again to everyone for your help
