I try to take a different approach than talking about search engines and html coding techniques, like isn't that just a wonderful to do when your trying to run a business. (build a website in the dark) But if you hire an internet expert, they are looking for a payment.

What myself and Fisicx are discussing are the initial coding and search engine visibility problems with the website "as is..." - as this is the website review forum and is what the OP asked for - what you are talking about is marketing of the website, which is slightly different. You do make a good point though, creating a "buzz" about a website is a brilliant way of marketing it - I am sure the OP has taken it onboard ![]() Feel free to contact me with any website issues. |

Thank you.
Again some very useful food for thought.............. I always (wrongly) presumed that having a website ,people wouldn't exactly flock to me,but a lot more interest would be shown! So,in otherwords.....as well as the sureal world of websites,I have to include the real world.........just of the cuff and when I have tweaked my website to be more find friendly......something like a press release offering some sort of ( I don't know what yet) incentive to at least view my site and better yet BUY! |

After some thought and deliberation,I have decided to take some advice from your replies ..................................but not all!
In my defence ,I have to say, if it takes about 10 years to gain knowledge about selling on a website...................why are people bothering at all ??? I'm sorry, but not everyone is technical minded.. .......nor should they have to be! They just want to sell on the internet. Which most do without all the shanigans I have been told.............and successfuly too! Just one other thing none of the experts picked up on..............the spelling of my website as opposed to my Ebay site. Ebay site = Brunswickheights Collectables My website = Brunswickheights Collectibles???? Not one person asked me why???????? Plus after reading the replies now,it seems more one upmanship than who cares about helping me with my website. That I find absolutely disgusting and extemely childish. Well ,I care about my website but I am not waiting 10 years to find what is wrong. I shall look elsewhere, where I am sure there are people who are really truly interested in helping me ,rather than putting me down to score brownie points of off each other, because that is what it seems. All I wanted to know was basic answers ( normal English not gobbly gook),not stuff only techis can comprehend. As are most website users. Please feel free to reply to this, however I shall not be back to this site. I obviously joined the wrong forum................BIG TIME! |

I am sure you do care about your website, but it does not mean that we have to care as much as you do. We have our own websites and businesses to look after and we help you out of our wish to help others in similar positions to us in the past. If you feel that we are not helpful, please dont start with the insults, but thank us politely and leave. That would be the mature and correct way to behave under these circumstances. Quote:

Patricia,
I'm sorry that you consider the advice given to be 'oneupmanship'. If you read many of the threads in the website review forum you will see the same advice repeated again and again. People do make money from their websites with out and of the shanaigans you mention but there any many reasons for this. They could have a niche but popular product, they could have lots of technical help, they could be asking all the right questions on the ecommenrce sites. Running a successful website requires some technical knowledge. As ocpaul20 suggests, you either do it yourself or you pay someone to do it for you. Remember that you original question was because the site got visitors but didn't convert. If you want to turn the site around you need to get your hands dirty and experiment. This requires some technical knowledge. |

**Sigh** Why do we bother doing website reviews at all
I for one am not willing to look at anymore website's and give advice if this is the thanks we get (or more to the point DON'T GET) There are plenty of web designers / developers and SEO / SEM peeps on this forum and we all get on 99% of the time, I don't see why you should think that we partake in "point scoring" off each other. And as for the spelling of your website, how you spell it is up to you - you asked for a website review not a grammar check, The more I read what you posted the more angry and upset I get that I wasted MY TIME on you - please don't come back, really.... I mean it, this forum is a happy and great place to be and is no place for freeloaders who want everything done for them... I have a teenage daughter with the exact same attitude as you - it stinks. Feel free to contact me with any website issues. |

"I obviously joined the wrong forum................BIG TIME!"
I would be really surprised if ebay reversed it's recent decision on deleting negative feedback because sellers would cover up their negatives by negociating them away. (BUT feedback removal no more) It is unfortunate that I am a total looser and my entry is a negative experience, yet I wonder why so many ebay seller's are real lousy with giving some return feedback on our feedback. YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY HAVE PEOPLE READING THEIR WORDS AND SAYING -- WHY BUY FROM THAT MENTAL CASE??????? PEACE KIDS! |
