This is an important lesson in SEO

Teneric is (almost) classed as an authority site

What that means is that it is trusted -- it has about 40k pages indexed in G

So when something comes along about a subject, google will trust that it must be OK from Teneric

That's the way it goes sometimes - look at how many times you see amazon or a government site come up - these are trusted sources

Trust a page from a PR6/ 40k site or a page from a new 3 page site ?

Latest update No 1 on google for makiwara post which was responcable for two of our three sales. Google is our friend, Some of the suggested changes have been made We are looking at others, We are also getting first page on many related search strings. The big one to crack being makiwara at the moment we are number twenty for that I have been told to get more links to our site to improve this rating.

Inbound links are certainly very important to a good ranking in the search engines - dedicate a day / night just trawling the online directories adding your site wherever you can

It doesn't really matter where you add the link (there are no such things as bad inbound links) just as long as Google and the others index the site where you have added your link

TWD Tony what do you mean trawling the online directories. Our ratings keep going up we are now number one on MSN uk for makiwara/makiwarapost
But its google I need to improve on for makiwara not yet top ten are links the only way?

I really like the simple clean look of your site.. but.. if I want to buy a makiwara post I would not know how to unless I read every page of your site, eventually ending up on the 'Terms' page.

I suggest that wherever you mention the prices you add a link to ordering instructions

OK So I said I would update you on progress we have now had number one on first page google for makiwarapost and just makiwara for several months I will see if its a fluke or not with my latest site. Thank you everyone as your advice helped me get this ranking.
