Please review my website, Business-Web - 02-07-2006, 08:49 PM

Hi everyone,

The webiste I have just finished is business-web.org, a business website builder that will build and host your website without needing to know anything about HTML. A website can be created easily by selecting a layout and adding content.

I just started this website and it took me lots of late night hours to complete it. Currently I'm receiving about 30 visitors a day, which is far below the websites' potential. I'm reading every tutorial I can find about Search Engine Optimization.

Currently I've bought adwords and have submitted my website to some linkdirectories. I'm also working on an article, because lots of tutorials say that publishing articles may result in traffic.

My review question; is there anything you would like to change about my website if you were in charge? Are there things on the website you would like to see differently, etc. Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Casper

You get visitors you have got to be found. There are two ways to this:

1. Via a search engine

2. Via referrals

In either case you have got to make you site attractive. The search engine for example needs something to index. You have a lot of duplicate content (Lorem ipsum dolor sit... on all the demos) which you may be penalized for. You also have an odd selection of keywords that won't score highly in the SERPs. The upshot is that the search engine won't bother to rank you highly against the millions of other template sites because you are not offering anything special.

And if you want to get referrals you need to publish on blogs, forumns, article sites etc without being spammy. And don't bother with link directories, the robots don't even bother with them any more - there are just too many of them. And article sites with 0PR won't help you either.

But your business model is flawed from the start. If I were a small business wanting a simple site I would want visitors to visit my site and stay there. I don't want google ads taking my customers away. Where are you hosting the site? Is my site going to be a subdirectory of your domain? If so then you won't get many takers - I want my business to have it's own top level domain. And even if you do this for me, who will pay for the registration?

i like the design of your site but your "create your online business" tag line under your logo is in a strange font compared to the rest!

i would also like to see a lot more content on how the service works, what you have to do and the costs etc. all i can do at the moment is look at examples or sign up.

i also can't see any privacy policy, comprehensive terms or contact details for you.

good luck with your enterprise though, it's a good start...

I'd say that that's some moderately unsuccessful business model as well.

A business would want a solid online presense, not some FREE and Ads ridden website. Unless they are spammers, of course.

That being said, you need to make it clear to your visitors that your services are FREE and what they have to pay to get that. (Ad space is what they are paying with, I suspect).
