Thanks for your comments. You are partly correct in that if people want to run their own area for My town, they pay an upfront fee and then a monthly admin fee. That provides them with all their marketing material e.g. flyers, magazine promotions etc. What they earn from each business coming on board is their income, not mine. When a site is up and running there is an orange triangle, as alongside North Wales that takes you through to the town.
Yes I have researched into the bestof., about my area, city local, city visitor, my community times etc. etc. A lot of the feedback I received was a) the initial franchsie fee was very high b) the monthly fee they had to pay was also quite steep. Many people have stopped trading after a couple of years.
I have already done something similar to this but offline so online is a new venture. Yes, I do need to make an income but I also want it to be an affordable opportunity to others.
I believe competition is healthy, it proves there is a market. After all Richard Branson only got where he is by not inventing anything new, just taking what was out there already but doing it better.
