Website Review Please :) - 09-02-2006, 07:08 AM

Hi,

I've read some of the replies on here and am almost scared to submit my site for review, but I guess if its bad its best that I know.

Hello,

Did you spell your domain correctly? That domain doesn't resolve to an IP and according to a whois lookup it isn't owned by anyone. It may be that you purchased the domain recently (within the last 72 hours) and it has not propogated yet. If this is the case, I'll try and check back later. Let me know if you are confused, I can assist you.

Hi,

Just tried it myself and the link works fine. On whois it's listed under the hosting company (we are getting this changed) and site been running ok for 4 months but been tweaking and changing things etc thats why only asking for review now. (still got things to add and change but be good to know if we're on the right track so far).

The www.beeunique.co.uk re-directs to www.beeunique.co.uk/myshop so maybe thats the problem, although I can get into store by using both addresses - we also re-direct from www.tartandiva.co.uk.

Let me know if your still having problems as we have had so many site offline/going down issues with hosting company and are in process of sorting site in order to transfer to new host.

Nickki

PS - I just checked whois and site is registered there *phew* was worried for a second as google seems to think site is down for maintenance just now so was concerned something had happened with domain name

I apologize, it's working now, thats what you get for multi-tasking i guess.

Anyway, looking at the site, I normally don't like black, but considering your target market and product I'd say it fits well. I would maybe move the Special Offers part on the main page to the top. It's the eye catcher, you want them to see those and be sucked into the site, so making it the focal point at the top under the logo may not be a bad idea. Just a thought, other than that, I'd say you're in good shape from what I see.

Thats brilliant thanks Is my husbands second site (first was only family thing so no shopping cart or products etc) - i tend to decide what i want and he has to figure out if its possible. We went for the black / yellow colours so that hopefully people would remember the beeunique name incase they lost bookmark. We recently changed the middle text to purple as it was too in your face all yellow.

The underlined items should be links you can click on to go to that section but we have not worked out how to do this yet. When we go to new host we should have more space etc so hoping to add form, gig guide and competition etc to try and keep customers around longer.

I'll talk to husband about moving the special items as they do tend to get lost and missed at bottom of page

Cheers for feedback

kyle is right on the money

When I went to your site this morning it took me ages to work out what you were selling

Remember the attention span of web visitors is almost non-existant so get the following above the fold and in the eye of the consumer

- what you do (as a benefit for the customer)
- your special offers
- your free delivery

no need to say you stock 1000s of products as your headline if folks dont know what you sell

Hi,

Just as I received email from you I was working on a discount promotion and was adding text at top to say we have 10% off in several sections of the site - once we work out how to do the links to the sections it should all be up and running. Husband is in now so will look into how to move Special Offers up the page

Cheers

Hi,

Sorry to be a pain again - we've added an About Us section to the site and also changed the front page slightly (not moved special offers up yet, but got section about promotion we are running at top of page just now and highlighted free delivery options etc - also got all links to promotions and other categories working).

The About Us section - i find most of them are boring and hardly anyone reads them all way through so we thought of doing a poem about us in a comic style might make it a bit less dull - could you let me know what you think? We're still thinking up better rhymes etc so actual poem could be changed, but just as a general overall image does it look ok?
(we're trying to 'fun' it up a bit)

Cheers
Nickki

I would spend more time adding info about your products than poems about yourself

also your graphic - concentrate on what you offer rather than your company name - see attached
