How have you been building sites before the Internet started?

Andy,

As Katman suggest, you don't need to spend a lot of money but you do need to do some planning. Concentrate on the needs of your potential clients rather than what you want to tell them and you are much more likley to pick up business.

Here's my 2 cents :-

I like the colour scheme - I think the fact a template was used is a completely moot point. The graphics are ok - not brilliant, but ok. Someone like myself could take that and polish it no problem.

The title animation is so discreet as to be pointless IMO - I'd bin it purely on the basis that it doesn't add anything.

With regards to the text, I think some of your about text should be in the home page - the fact you've had contracts with BAE and royalty certainly sets the tone for the calibre of client that you work with & would attract me if I were a client as your rapidly establishing your credentials.

I do agree that the images on the left do nothing for the site from an aesthetics point of view.

In terms of SEO, a good opportunity for adding strong keywords is in you're navigation. By that I mean, nobody ever searches for 'about'!

The home page could also do with more detail about the areas covered - basically the homepage should act as a condensed version of your site i.e this is who we are and what we do....the subsequent pages reinforce this by supporting the summary of the home page (a bit like writing a dissertation).

All in all, not bad - just needs some about how the info is conveyed.

Yes your quite right, and I was not saying he should or should not spend money on changing his website, and I assure you I do read with great care any item on any forum before I ever reply, so not too sure why you decided to say what you did to be honest, unless you felt I was trying to prevent him from having a a costly website built which I was not saying.
Not being a website builder for profit or running a business building them I had nothing to lose in what I advised sorry if I upset you on my comments.
David
